Emphasizing What Matters

Dear Friend,

While pink and red wrapped candies lie abandoned on metal shelves, our attention quickly turns to bunny-shaped treats and plastic eggs. Primary and pastel-shaded celebrations and extra-curricular activities help detract from winter remnants, yet in the process, are we overlooking the subtle signs of new life? As our students revel in calendar-controlled chaos, let’s not miss a glorious opportunity and season.

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Matthew 6:33

Humanity sought the prophetic signs of the coming Savior for years, yet many were too distracted to see and celebrate God With Us. Today, we have the blessed knowledge of an empty tomb, yet spring sports, dances, standardized testing, and scope and sequence “catch-up” can easily distract from He Has Risen. Instead of checking a “spiritual emphasis” box one week, let’s use every moment until the last day of school to focus on and celebrate what really matters. After all, identity, purpose, and hope are what this generation searches and yearns for most amongst all of life’s busyness, temporary pleasures, and distractions. Christian education is the only academic institution unrestrained to share the freedom found in Jesus Christ. May we all be found daily proclaiming and emphasizing our Creator and Savior with students while we still have that privilege.

Grace be with you,
